You know how it goes. You want to start a blog but keep putting it off for months or even years. From time to time you have a great idea you want to share with the world and you think “If only I had a blog, I’d blog about this right now”. But you don’t have a blog. Not yet. But you will. You definitely will. Someday…
I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for several months now. My reason to keep putting it off was that I didn’t want to use stuff like WordPress and tie myself to WYSIWYG with its HTML soup; I wanted to use a blogging platform based on Markdown. One of the reasons was the ability to migrate to any other blogging platform in the future without having to reformat that HTML soup.
Since I haven’t seen any decent solutions in this space, I thought I’ll have to write one myself. And who has time for that? But today I stumbled upon Ghost on the DigitalOcean blog and it turned out to be exactly what I needed. Even though Ghost is still in its early days, the experience of spinning up a droplet based on the Ghost image and writing this post has been great.
So, thanks to Ghost I have no more excuses left to keep putting blogging off anymore.
What will this blog be about? I don’t know yet. I’m a geek specializing in Web development and I’m also into some personal development stuff and business, so this blog might be about all of these. At least, it will be up and ready for the next time I’ll have a great idea to share.
